San Miguel Electric Corp. (SMELC)

San Miguel Electric Corp. (SMELC) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of SMC Global Power Holdings Corp. (SMC Global) and is a Retail Electricity Supplier (RES) duly licensed by the Energy Regulatory Commission. SMELC was incorporated in February 2011 and received its RES license on August 22, 2011.

The power supplied to the Contestable Customers is sourced from the diverse portfolio of power plants of SMC Global Power, the biggest power producer in Luzon. SMC Global Power has a total generating capacity of 2,545 MW and is currently providing energy to various Directly Connected Customers, Distribution Utilities, and Economic Zones.

Considering the different load profiles of Contestable Customers, SMELC can offer flexible pricing schemes to meet the customers’ power requirements as part of its commitment to providing reliable, continuous power supply at competitive rates.
In response to the country’s increasing energy consumption, SMC Global Power has already begun the construction of two greenfield power projects, one in Limay, Bataan and another Malita, Davao del Sur. Both plants will have an initial capacity of 150 MW, expandable to 600 MW. Thus, by the year 2016, SMELC will be able to provide power to even more contestable customers in Luzon.
